Unicorn Western

Unicorn Western - Sean Platt, Johnny B. Truant A fun story mixing western with magic and unicorns. It does have a couple of fun moments, and the story is ok. Not sure whether I will fork out for the rest of the series, at least not immediately.
But if I ever find it on sale, I wouldn't mind seeing where the story goes from here.

It was a quick read, and I would recommend you try it out if you think the blurb sounds interesting!

Snømannen

Snømannen - Jo Nesbo Quite a few years ago I read the first couple of books in the Harry Hole series. It must have been around the time they were first published, so I guess late 90's.
Back then my favourite books to read where crime/thillers, so they should have been right up my street. But for some reason I didn't really get into them at all. So much so that I have never since read anything written by Jo Nesbø, even after he made it big internationally.

I have wondered for quite some time now whether I should give his books another try, as they do seem to be very popular. A friend recommended this one, as she found it really good. Which leads us here.

And I am glad I decided to listen and read this. I think it's a very good story, it had me interested all the way through. Good twists and turns along the way.

I don't know if I will read all the books in the series, but it's likely that I will read more if they are all this good. I would recommend this book to everyone that enjoys reading murder mysteries! :)

Q is for Quarantine (A-Z of Horror 17)

Q is for Quarantine (A-Z of Horror 17) - Iain Rob Wright Short but good story, watch out for those oranges!!

Redeemed

Redeemed - Kristin Cast, P.C. Cast So this is the last book of the series. And even though I liked the story I am glad that it is finished. It feels like it dragged on in the end, making me feel like there should have been 8 books in the series instead of 12. But, I did finish the whole series, the story was good enough for me to want to hear how it all ends.

Some of the characters was starting to annoy me though. I'm not too sad to be finished with them.

The Dead Room

The Dead Room - Robert Ellis, Jim McCance I really liked this book. The story was exciting and captivating, and the murders twisted and gory.
The characters are really well developed and there are some twists and turns in the plot along the way.

I listenend to the audio version of this book, narrated by Jim McCance. I have had mixed experiences with audiobooks before, a bad narrator can easily ruin a good book for me. In this case it was the cherry on the top, McCance brings the story to life and does a great job in creating the right atmosphere for the book.

Would highly recommend this book, especially as an audiobook!

Revealed (House of Night, #11)

Revealed (House of Night, #11) - P.C. Cast This series is starting to drag on a bit, but I will read the last book to get the end of the story. I almost wish the series was 8-9 books long instead of 12...

Panikk!

Panikk!

TAKEN BY THE X-RAY TECH: A Reluctant First Anal Sex With Doctor Short (Doctor/Patient Sex Encounter)

TAKEN BY THE X-RAY TECH: A Reluctant First Anal Sex With Doctor Short (Doctor/Patient Sex Encounter) - Nancy Brockton Very short and not worth what it costs on Amazon in my opinion.

I have some issues:
Firstly, the title. An x-ray tech and a doctor is not the same thing!
image

And apparently all the x-ray facilities were not open.. What, there are no emergency services??
image

Also, no lube?? *sigh* NO preparation at all in fact, just right to the action...

Pretty sure this wasn't worth my time...

SELF HELP: SELF ESTEEM: Daring to be Great: Steps to Accepting Yourself and Being Confident (Self-Acceptance Confidence Transformation) (Personal Success Changing Habits Empowerment)

SELF HELP: SELF ESTEEM: Daring to be Great: Steps to Accepting Yourself and Being Confident (Self-Acceptance Confidence Transformation) (Personal Success Changing Habits Empowerment) - Michael Lane An ok read, listing the factors for why you might have low self-esteem and suggestions on steps you can do to change your negative thoughts into positive thinking. Maybe a bit short, but it was free, so can't complain!

It was free on Amazon, so give it a go if you think it looks interesting! :)

That title is just insanely long though...

The X-Files Season 10 #1

The X-Files Season 10 #1 - Joe Harris *** 3.5 Stars ***

The story seems good, it was a little short though. I do want to see what happens next!

Morning Star

Morning Star - Pierce Brown So... I just finished this. And I will try to review it. Just know that there is no way I will be able to do this any justice...

This is definitely one of my favorite trilogies that I have ever read. Every single book, every single page is great. It is extremely well written, and had me constantly on the edge of my seat.

It is also very realistic. War isn't pretty. Heroes are just human too, and can get hurt both physically and mentally. And killed. During the series there are a lot of main characters that get killed. And it's heartbreaking. But the story is so fantastic it is all worth it. Constant surprises keeps you guessing what will happen next. Nothing is sacred, no one is safe. And it's wonderful.

After finishing I feel like my heart has been ripped out of my chest, thrown on the ground, stomped on and left in the dirt. But then it has been picked up, gently cleaned and placed carefully back in my chest. Over and over again. And it is aching with joy, sadness and love.

Love for one of the best books I have ever read. This amazing trilogy that future books that I read will be compared to. Thank you Pierce Brown. My heart and mind will never be the same again!

Golden Son

Golden Son - Pierce Brown This book... I'm not sure I have words.

It picks up the story a little after the end of book 1. And you definitely need to read these in order, just in case you were wondering.

And it's awesome. And heartbreaking. And jaw-dropping. And shocking. And everything else the first book was. And I honestly don't have the words to write a review that does it justice. If you liked the first book, you will definitely want to read this one too. It does not disappoint.

And you will want to read the next book too. Because, seriously, that ending... The last chapter in this book has more action and emotion than a lot of other books I've read. And I am relieved that I didn't start this series before the 3rd book was released, the waiting would have been agony.

Stop wasting your time reading reviews and just read it!!

Red Rising

Red Rising - Pierce Brown This is one of the best books I've ever read. Seriously. Read it. Don't even waste time reading this review. Read it!!!

Still reading? Oh. I guess I'll write a bit more then.

If you like dystopian, this is the book for you. In this society everyone is divided into colours (or classes), and there is no way to choose to join a different colour. If you're born a Red, you will stay a Red.
When Darrow gets a chance to become a Gold and try to change how the system works, he discovers that it is not just great being a Gold. In fact it is kill or be killed.

This book is not fluffy. It's not sweet. It's raw, harsh, brutal and violent. It is filled with suffering, heartache and despair. No one of the characters are "safe", and there are a lot of deaths. Like I said: kill or be killed. No one can stay innocent if they expect to make it out alive. How far is Darrow willing to go for the cause? It is a constant struggle between winning the game and staying the person he used to be.

Sounds horrible? It is. But it is also amazingly , wonderfully awesome! It is a great story, it is written well and it keeps you wanting to read to find out what is going to happen next. I would have read this in one sitting if I could, I did not want to put it down!

Absolutely recommended, especially if you like dystopian, but maybe not for the faint of heart.

Hunted

Hunted - P.C. Cast, Kristin Cast This is the fifth book in the series, and it is still keeping me interested.
Even though it has some stereotypical moments, it is something about the story that makes me want to keep reading to see what is going to happen.
In fact I have already borrowed the next 4 from the library. So I guess that means I like the series :)

Untamed

Untamed - Kristin Cast, P.C. Cast I'm still enjoying the series, and will definitely move on to the next book. Especially with the ending! I have to know what is going to happen now!
