Untitled Dark Space

Darker Space - Lisa Henry *** 3.5 Stars ***

Dark Space (book #1 in the series) is one of my favourite books ever. So the anticipation before reading this one was high.

"Am I your heartbeat again?”
"You always have been."

It's been a few months since the story in the first book and Cam and Brady are living on Earth With Lucy. They have a good life together, though they are still being tested to see if the Faceless have changed them somehow. Brady is struggeling to move on from what happened. He is very depressed and angry at the world. Now, I have no problem understanding that he is struggling to cope. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a bit of PTSD from everything that happened. But to me it seemed.. too much? I mean, at least he has a great life now, right? And Lucy, his sister, is safe and living with them. And they both have a job and share a flat. Unfortunately it seemed to me like the first 1/3 of the book was about how moody and angry Brady is at the world and everything. And it was a bit much... And I missed a bit of the interaction between Brady and Cam from the first book.

Now that's the negative bit taken care of. Nice to get such Things out of the way quickly! Let's move on to the awesome bits!!

I am very happy that I kept reading! The second half of the book is great! There is a lot of action and surprises, aliens (possibly minor spoiler there, but come on - it shouldn't really come as a huge surprise!) and love.

The relationship between Brady and Cam seems to be more like it was in the first book too. And we get to hear what happened to some of the other characters in the first book.

I liked the way the book ended too, and can't wait for the 3rd book!

All in all I would say that the last half of the book would have been close to a 5 star, but the start pulled it down a little...

If you have read the first book and enjoyed it, I would definitely recommend reading this one too! And if you get to 30% and you think it's slightly disappointing, then please, please, keep reading!! It will be worth it, I promise! And you will be happy you did :)
